An Aswan oasis on the River Nile

Pros: Hannag Guesthouse is such a dreamlike spot in Aswan. Staying on a private island, with incredible sunset view and goats & cats roaming around. It's a real oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Aswan city, and a stone throw away from Elephantine Island, which was a joy to walk around during the day and night. When we arrived we weren't exactly sure how it would all work in terms of the pick ups and drop offs, but the hosts were so helpful and always took us where we wanted to go, and picked us up when we needed as well. As vegans we weren't sure how well we'd be catered for breakfast-wise, but the hosts were so accommodating and went out of their way to provide. for us. Having breakfast on the river in the morning was so idyllic. Overall it was such a special place to stay and we'd hugely recommend Hannag Guesthouse to anyone visiting Aswan.

Pros: Excellent host who collected us by boat very easily and was very responsive. He also took us to and from the movenpick. Lovely beautiful setting. Your own guest house on your own island, incredible.

Cons: It would be good to use the covered boat for guests. The open boat is exposed to the sun. Or put a canopy on the open boat. Remove the cardboard from under the mattresses which looks cheap and strange.

Pros: Really clean, great showers and beds. Great outdoor space looking at the Nile. The breakfast was amazing and they were always so helpful giving us lifts in the boat. Amazing stay and would stay again.

We highly recommend it, it is really a hidden gem!

Mostafa is a very kind, friendly and helpful guy with a great value accommodation!

Pros: It’s away from the main city; small, personable; quirky and colourful. It has animals like goats and sheep and you can see Kingfisher, Heron and Egret all on the small island. The breakfast was delicious - simple but very nice. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Good wifi also. Mostafa is a really nice guy. He is happy to organise so many things for his guests and is happy to help. If you want a really quiet getaway with no people around, I would recommend this. It’s the perfect place to take a good book, relax and read or sit on wait watching birds. He can organise a bird watching trip also - which I did this morning in a row boat!! So nice!

Cons: All was good - I cannot say a bad thing.

Unforgettable stay!

Pros: This is a lovely quiet guesthouse on a private island, literally 10 meters from the beautiful Elephantine island and Mostafa, Mahmoud and family are very kind and always available to help with the boat. They also organize tours (also to Beduin village and beach which is amazing!). This is the place you cannot miss if you visit Aswan!

Pros: WOW! Loved my 3 nights here as a solo female traveller. One of the most fantastic places I have ever stayed at and I will definitely coming back!! Life is so peaceful on the little private island. Mostafa and Messi helped me organise trips to Abu Simbel and Philae Temple with ease, the varied breakfasts were so tasty (omelette, fresh cheese and pancakes) and the rooms were a good size with a powerful, hot shower. The lambs, goats and chickens were wonderful to see on the other part of the island. Before booking I was concerned it might be too remote for going to restaurants on elephantine island / back to the mainland for day trips (/my daily drink pick up at Makani in the mainland for a delicious Sudanese chocolate milkshake!) etc - but this was not a problem at all. Mostafa and Messi were available to drop me off and pick me up whenever I needed. THANK YOU!

Pros: What a great place! Mostafa and his Family are amazing. They let us join their family lunch and brought us everywhere we wanted to go by their private boats. Kommunication via whatsapp was very easy. At the moment they give free bottles of water to you as a new years gift. Thanks Mostafa and Abdulla for the nice days :)

Pros: Great location on a peaceful island with lots of birds, but only a short boat ride from the boat quay in Aswan. Mostafa was an amazing host, very responsive and always happy to help with boat rides and tours. The breakfast was delicious and we also had an amazing meal looking over the water in the evening. This family run place has loads of atmosphere and is in a beautiful, restful spot.

Pros: The host was very friendly and treated us with great warmth, always willing to accommodate our needs. The guesthouse is located on a small, quiet, and secluded island next to Elephantine Island, offering a peaceful retreat away from the bustle. The host provides a private boat to take guests to and from the dock, so transportation is never an issue. There are even adorable sheep on the island. If you’re looking for a comfortable and tranquil place to stay that’s different from other areas in Aswan, I highly recommend staying here—it’s truly worth it.
