Taxi service is awful, taxi located across the road, not a 5-star hotel service
Pros: A very beautiful hotel with a wonderful history, an exceptional building, garden, and location.
Cons: The property needed a lot of repairs, and it was sad to see such beauty in such a poor state - the ceiling, the parquet, and the chandelier. The receptionists weren't interested in the leaving guests.

Beautiful, elegant, dreamy stay.
Pros: Beautiful property and unbelievable location. We got a room with a Nile view and waking up early and watching the sunrise from our balcony was something I’ll never forget. The pool area is fantastic and I wish we’d stayed longer so we could have actually just had a whole day by the pool (we were out sightseeing a lot of the time). Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. We didn’t eat in any of the restaurants as didn’t have formal wear/shoes, which we should have checked in advance, but had a delicious lunch by the pool and drinks in the garden in the evening.
Cons: The bed was a little hard - though not sure if that’s because we were in the original (old) building and maybe rooms are more comfy in the garden buildings.

GOING BACK IN TIME OVER THE NILE
Pros: The Winter Palace is a magnificent hotel in Luxor with beautiful views over the Nile. It takes you back in time. The staff are extremely kind, and the breakfast is excellent. The rooms are not very large but are comfortable and nicely appointed. The gardens are amazing. The hotel also organized a wonderful tour to Dendera with an excellent guide from Nasco Tours — she was great.
Cons: The only drawback is that smoking is allowed in the bar and lounge areas, so if you are unlucky, it can be difficult to find a place to enjoy a drink without smoke.

A fantastic peaceful relaxing end to a busy fortnight sightseeing.
Pros: A beautiful green oasis amongst the desert chaos of Luxor. Staff were always professional. Facilities top class. Breakfast selection-sublime. You were made to feel incredibly special from the moment you booked !

The staff were charming and helpful- the building retains the essence of its old charm
Pros: It is a grand old dame of a hotel which seriously would benefit from a refurbishment - maintaining the unique heritage of the building but bringing it fully into the 21st century
Cons: Some untidy aspects - clearly not a lot of investment is going into the building and it is living off its former reputation. A spa would be good on the ground floor instead of the plethora of offices - staff hygiene should be encouraged- waiters using the lavatory without washing hands etc

Pros: The location, the great history of the hotel building itself takes you back in time! The garden is magnificent. Best trip ever.

Lovely - if slightly flawed
Pros: Breakfast and evening meal in the Corniche were excellent. The view from our Nile view room was enchanting. The pool area is lovely as are the gardens. The hotel oozes history and style, some of which compromises things like a/c - but that is the very acceptable cost of retaining the history
Cons: Things can go wrong, but the hotel took no ownership of a problem caused by its outsourced travel service. We booked hotel transport from the airport which didn't turn up, so when every other passenger had been picked up, we had to take the last airport taxi, which was fun in a shambolic way. When we arrived, maybe because we weren't in the 'right' vehicle, the hotel staff offered no help as we dragged cases up the stairs when there was a luggage lift which should have been used. A written complaint to the front office manager was ignored. A 'first world problem' but the lack of ownership let down what is a great (and expensive!) hotel.

Palatial stay that makes your Egypt trip unforgettable
Pros: Absolutely everything. The style of a historic palace, the quality of service provided. The size of the rooms, the views, the garden, the location right on the Luxor’s Corniche next to the Nile river. The staff even arranged dinners, taxis outside the property and were just generally very helpful. The attention to detail was incredible, the afternoon tea was made on the spot, and I could on and on… the pool was heated and the area surrounding it is beautiful. The flamingos in the garden were certainly an unexpected surprise 🦩
Cons: Please keep maintaining it as it is, because it is hard to find imperfections to this property. Perhaps a suggestion: you should open a gym/spa: it would be very fitting.

Memorable. Sofitel was an absolute oasis. Transported to a moment in history.
Pros: The building and decor we divine. The grounds and garden were beautiful and the breakfast buffet was delicious. Above all, the thing that stood out to me was the staff. Their level of service was exceptional. The front desk, the room service and even the cleaning staff were perfect. So personable and welcoming. We felt like we were staying somewhere that we visit regularly, so homely. They all made our stay so memorable.
Cons: The only thing that would make this place better would be a fitness facility- but in saying that, a gym wouldn’t fit the “vibe” of the hotel and the charm.
