Romania 🇷🇴

Traditional tranquil village and a spacious comfortable room (wi-fi included!)

Pros: The location is in a tranquil nubian village on the west side of the Nile. If you're with the car, you easily exit on a highway towards the Aswan Dam of Abu Simbel. The courtyard is a traditional one, the room was big, clean and with a good wi-fi. The host was careful and the surroundings looked safe. We also parked the car at the gate front and it was ok. The breakfast was tasteful and we served it outside in the courtyard. On the evenings, the lights from the courtyard make a warm and nice atmosphere. A good value for money!

Cons: The bathroom was outside of the room (which wouldn't be that bad). The water debit/pressure at the toilet was poor. We paid for a dinner there, and for 10$ we received one-egg portion of omelette each and some small side-dishes, so we went to sleep hungry. The next evening we went to a nubian restaurant in a nearby village and for the same amount of money we couldn't finish the abundance of food we received.

Pros: Een absolute aanrader. Ik reisde alleen en was op één nacht na de enige gast in het verblijf. Zover ik ervoer, was het dorp qua toerisme volledig ontontgonnen. De gastheer Arafa nam mij mee naar zijn vrienden voor een kop koffie of andere versnaperingen. Daar regelde hij direct tripjes op maat voor een habbekrats. Zo heb ik een unieke inkijk gekregen in een zeer gastvrije cultuur die zich met trots onderscheidt van de Arabische.

A great experience. Would definitely recommend.

Pros: What a great property to experience the Nubian culture and people! Everybody that we met was very friendly and open to us. Our host also arranged for and was our guide from and to the Nile, the private boat, experience a couple of Nubian villages as well as a real (not a tourist) Nubian restaurant. Great tour and at what we call *real* prices, not inflated tourist prices.
