A perfect stay in Aswan

Pros: This villa in Aswan stands out for the wonderful hospitality of its owners. They offer delicious, home-cooked meals at very reasonable prices, including vegetarian options. Everything is absolutely delicious, made with care, and always accompanied by the best bread and tea we've tasted in Egypt. What we enjoyed most was the visit to Elephantine Island, which the chef generously arranged for us without asking for anything in return. He showed us local life and some of its treasures. Afterward, we enjoyed dinner on the boat with the owner in the middle of the Nile—a truly unique experience. The chef also opened his home to us for tea because we were a bit chilly. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience you gave us and for all you did in such a short time. We have an unforgettable memory. Encountering people like this proves that kindness is still alive and well.

Excellent place for the adventurous traveler

Pros: Wonderful host who can arrange everything an adventurous tourist needs. The place is SUPER clean, even compared to 5 stars hotels that I stayed in in Egypt. Being a native Nubian, Hamdi is a treasure trove of information on the Nubian culture.

A very good stay at Aswan

Pros: The host Hamde is very friendly and helpful. He offered a very good hospitality. If any tour drivers cannot find the place, Hamde will help with the communication. The place is close to the city centre and a supermarket, good for exploring Aswan.

A Nubian house close to the center of Aswan

Pros: The host Eslem is very friendly and helpful , also his cousin and friend. The location of this Nubian house is very close to the city center, like 10-15 min walk. A supermarket is also very close. There are two rooms and toilets to share. Everything is good.

Cons: Nothing.

Great hospitality! Amazing stay

Pros: The villa was beautiful, and the hosts were incredibly kind. They waited up for us even though we arrived very late, and whenever we had questions or issues, they responded quickly. They also helped us communicate with our driver the next day who was taking us to our cruise, which we really appreciated. The hospitality was outstanding, we truly enjoyed our stay. The host even made us breakfast the next morning!

Cons: The rooms were a little old fashioned, and the property is slightly far out from the city but we would still stay again!

Pros: Very beautiful place, very comfortable. It’s very close to the center and the owner and manager was so kind with us and hospitality. I recommend you to visit it

Quirky spacious apartment in very local part of Aswan. Super friendly and helpful host

Pros: Lots of beds and space. Awesome hospitality and helpful host. Hot water, AC, Wifi, washing machine all working. Pool area great to chill by.

Cons: We didn’t mind, but the area is very ‘local’. It’s dirt streets and nothing close by. We loved this, but also had to take a taxi to get to restaurants etc. This might not be for everybody.

Pros: The swimming pool is amazing. The owners are so nice

Amazing

Pros: We loved everything — the house was super cute, and having a pool was a real luxury. Eslam and Hamdi are incredibly kind people. Hamdi took us everywhere we wanted to go; he really took great care of us and our children. He paid a lot of attention to helping us discover Nubian culture and taste some local culinary specialties. We wish we could have stayed a few more days, but we’ll definitely come back without hesitation.

Authentic Nubian experience

Pros: Bakar House is a great place to stay. Think of it as more of a home stay for an authentic Nubian experience rather than a traditional hotel. Facilities are basic but clean and the beds were very comfortable. Aswan centre is a 15 mins walk (easy access to the ferries to Elephantine Island) or a 5 mins tuk-tuk ride. There is a supermarket located close by to pick up provisions. Restaurants are easy to get to. Owner Hamdi and Manager Eslam were incredible hosts. They made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. They are passionate about Aswan and Nubian culture. Transport to sites and to and from the airport is easy to arrange with them, if needed. For us, this felt like a slice of the ‘real Egypt’ rather than being ferried from attraction to attraction on an organised tour.
